The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins faced a tough setback in the playoffs, losing Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final to the Toronto Marlies, 4-2, at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. Defenseman Alex Alexyev contributed with a goal and an assist, while forward Rutger McGroarty also added a goal for the team.
Goaltender Sergei Murashov recorded 12 saves on 15 shots, bringing his postseason record to 6-4. The Penguins now find themselves on the brink of elimination as they prepare for Game 2 of the best-of-seven series, scheduled for Friday at 7:05 PM at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
