The Chicago Blackhawks have officially released their 2026-27 NHL schedule, which marks the first expanded season featuring 84 games since 1994. According to Yahoo Sports, the Blackhawks will kick off their season on September 29 against the Vegas Golden Knights before hosting their home opener on October 6 against the St.
Louis Blues. Notably, this season includes two games in Dusseldorf, Germany, against the Ottawa Senators on December 18 and 20 as part of the NHL Global Series. Additionally, the Chicago Sun-Times reports that home game start times have been adjusted, with most weeknight games now beginning at 7 PM instead of 7:30 PM, and weekend games starting at 6 PM or earlier, reflecting fan preferences.
This change stems from survey feedback, with 83% of respondents favoring earlier start times. Furthermore, the Blackhawks are looking to enhance their roster, having recently traded for defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway, aiming to strengthen their competitiveness in the Western Conference.
As reported by Blackhawk Up, these acquisitions highlight the team's strategy of pursuing youth and talent to improve their performance in the upcoming season. Overall, the combination of a new schedule, adjusted game times, and roster moves sets the stage for an exciting season ahead for the Blackhawks.
