Washington Capitals General Manager Chris Patrick confirmed that the team will not be making any further additions to their roster after a busy offseason. Following significant moves, including the trade for Jordan Kyrou and signing Alex Tuch, Booner Jenner, and Vincent Desharnais, the Capitals are currently at the NHL salary cap limit with only $975,000 in remaining cap space, according to Russian Machine Never Breaks.
Patrick noted in an interview that the team is 'pretty much strapped' and that any future adjustments would likely involve sending players out to create room. He expressed satisfaction with the current roster as they prepare for training camp in September, where limited spots will be available for emerging players.
Alex Ovechkin, returning for the 2026-27 season on a one-year deal, remarked that the Capitals are now 'one of the best teams' in the NHL, emphasizing the importance of their offseason acquisitions to their championship ambitions.
Ovechkin's quick contract negotiations also reflect the team's stability and commitment to competing for another Stanley Cup, as highlighted by Stars and Sticks.
