The Vegas Golden Knights have made significant roster moves during the free agency period, highlighted by the re-signing of defenseman Rasmus Andersson to a seven-year deal and acquiring forward Victor Olofsson.
Additionally, the team has extended Dylan Coghlan with a two-year contract, reinforcing their defensive lineup. Coghlan's deal, worth $875,000, follows a successful playoff run where he made his postseason debut and scored three points in 13 games.
On the transaction front, the Knights traded forward Keegan Kolesar to the Detroit Red Wings, acquiring a seventh-round pick in 2027 and a third-round pick in 2029, while clearing significant cap space.
General Manager Kelly McCrimmon acknowledged the emotional aspect of trading Kolesar, who was part of the franchise's early days, stating that these decisions are difficult but necessary for the team’s future.
The Knights also signed multiple depth players, including Ville Heinola and Antti Tuomisto, as they look to enhance their roster depth and competitive edge for the upcoming season. These moves reflect the franchise's strategy to build on their recent Stanley Cup victory and prepare for the challenges ahead in the NHL.
