The Vegas Golden Knights have made significant moves as they prepare for the upcoming NHL season. Jeremy Lauzon has been re-signed to a six-year extension worth an average of $4 million annually, which solidifies the team's defensive lineup.
This comes after the Knights traded Kaedan Korczak to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Parker Wotherspoon, a move that clears nearly $3 million in cap space. Wotherspoon, retained at 50% of his $1 million cap hit, had a career-high 30 points last season.
Additionally, the Knights have hired Mark Letestu as an assistant coach, adding valuable experience to their coaching staff. Lastly, the team traded goaltender Akira Schmid to the Florida Panthers for a third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, reflecting their ongoing adjustments in goaltending and focus on future draft capital.
These strategic moves highlight the Golden Knights' commitment to building a competitive team as free agency approaches.
