Patrik Allvin has officially left the Vancouver Canucks organization after being relieved of his duties as general manager. According to Darren Dreger from Daily Faceoff, despite initial speculation that Allvin might stay in another capacity, he has decided to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
Allvin, who was hired as GM in January 2022, oversaw a tumultuous period for the Canucks, culminating in a last-place finish in the 2025-26 NHL season with only 58 points. Following his departure, the Canucks announced the Sedin twins, Henrik and Daniel, as the new co-presidents of hockey operations, alongside Ryan Johnson as the new general manager.
During Allvin's tenure, he faced significant challenges, including missing the playoffs in three of four seasons, and ultimately most decision-making transitioned to Jim Rutherford, who also stepped down as the president of hockey operations.
Allvin's future may involve a role as an assistant GM in another NHL organization, leveraging his extensive experience in European and amateur scouting, which includes a 16-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
This leadership transition is crucial for the Canucks as they aim to rebuild and enhance team performance moving forward. Allvin's exit reflects a broader shift in the Canucks' front office as they seek to turn the franchise's fortunes around.
