Seattle Kraken forward Jaden Schwartz is on the road to recovery following a serious injury sustained during a game against the Ottawa Senators. Coach Lane Lambert provided an update, stating Schwartz is out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury but is incredibly fortunate, as the situation could have been much worse.

Schwartz was struck in the face by a skate after a collision involving teammate Eeli Tolvanen and Senators player Nick Cousins. Fortunately, Schwartz's visor absorbed much of the impact, preventing more severe injury.

Teammates helped him off the ice, and the incident left the arena in stunned silence. With only 19 games remaining in the regular season, Schwartz's potential absence raises concerns for the Kraken, who currently hold a shaky grip on a playoff spot.

He has contributed 10 goals and 11 assists in 42 games this season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. This incident has reignited discussions about player safety equipment, specifically neck guards, which have been mandated for international play starting in 2026.

The Kraken are also adjusting their lineup, with new player Bobby McMann expected to contribute soon despite missing recent games due to visa issues. The team faces a challenging stretch as they navigate Schwartz's absence and aim for playoff contention.
