The Pittsburgh Penguins have a promising prospect in goaltender Sergei Murashov, who has emerged as a prime breakout candidate for next season. Murashov played five NHL games this season, achieving a record of one win, one loss, and two overtime losses, with an .897 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average.
Notably, he recorded a 21-save shutout against the Nashville Predators on November 16. In the AHL, Murashov excelled with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, posting a 24-9-4 record over 38 games, a .919 save percentage, a 2.20 goals-against average, and four shutouts.
His playoff performance also included a .920 save percentage in three games. Given his impressive statistics, it is likely that the 22-year-old will receive more opportunities at the NHL level next season, and many believe he has the potential to thrive in that role.
According to Yahoo Sports NHL, with his current trajectory, Murashov is a player to watch for next season as he aims to elevate his performance for the Penguins.
