Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins achieved a significant milestone by surpassing Steve Yzerman on the NHL's all-time scoring list. On April 4, 2026, during a home game against the Florida Panthers at PPG Paints Arena, Crosby recorded a secondary assist on Evgeni Malkin's power-play goal, marking his 1,756th career point.
This assist allowed Crosby to take sole possession of seventh place, surpassing Yzerman's total of 1,755 points. Crosby's career totals now stand at 653 goals and 1,102 assists in 1,417 games played. As he continues to chase Marcel Dionne's sixth-place total of 1,771 points, Crosby is also on track to secure his 21st consecutive NHL season of point-per-game scoring, solidifying his legacy as one of the game's greats.
The Penguins' 9-4 victory against the Panthers also celebrated Malkin reaching his 1,400th career point, a notable achievement in its own right. With this win, the Penguins are edging closer to clinching a playoff berth, aiming to return to the postseason for the first time since 2022.
