Leon Draisaitl had a standout season for the Edmonton Oilers in 2025-26, despite not reaching the 50-goal or 100-point marks, which he had achieved in the previous year. He led all Oilers forwards in five-on-five points per hour with 2.48 and scored 35 goals, many from difficult angles.

Draisaitl showcased his exceptional passing ability, finishing just three assists shy of a point-per-game average, and ranked near the top in various passing metrics. On December 16, he reached his 1000th NHL point in a game against the recently traded Stuart Skinner, becoming the fourth-fastest active player to do so.

Draisaitl also captained Team Germany at his first Olympic Games, leading the team in scoring with seven points in five games, although Germany was eliminated in the quarterfinals. After the Olympics, he returned with a strong performance, producing 17 points in 10 games before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for the final weeks of the regular season.

Despite concerns about his injury, Draisaitl played in all six playoff games, leading the Oilers with 10 points. Throughout the season, Draisaitl was candid about the team's struggles, emphasizing the need for consistency and accountability from both players and coaches, while also reflecting on his own defensive play, which he felt had declined.

According to Oilers Nation, Draisaitl's contributions and leadership remain crucial to the Oilers' success as they look to improve in the upcoming season.
