The Carolina Hurricanes are hosting a Mental Health Awareness Night tonight as part of the NHL's Hockey Talks initiative. The event, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, aims to raise awareness about mental health and reduce stigma around mental wellbeing.
Fans are encouraged to create Hockey Talks signs featuring positive affirmations, which will be shared with players. Community groups will also be present on the South Plaza before the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Lenovo Center.
Colleen Briggs, President of the Blue Cross NC Foundation, emphasized the importance of supporting youth mental health and building a healthier future together. Supportive messages for players can be sent through the Hurricanes' social media pages before the puck drops.
