Former NHL player Bobby Farnham, along with Brett Jefferson and Marc Grandisson, has purchased minority ownership interests in the Carolina Hurricanes. This announcement follows the team's official statement released on Friday.
Owner and CEO Tom Dundon agreed to sell 12.5% of the Hurricanes at a $2.66 billion valuation for approximately $332.5 million. Dundon expressed confidence in the new owners, stating that Brett, Marc, and Bobby are accomplished executives whose experience will help grow the team.
He noted that Brett lives in the area and Marc will soon relocate to Raleigh, allowing for local influence. Farnham, who played four seasons in the NHL, began his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins before spending time with the New Jersey Devils, where he recorded 10 points in 50 games.
He concluded his playing career with the Montreal Canadiens, totaling 67 games in the NHL. At 37 years old, Farnham has transitioned to the business side of the industry and is returning to the league in a new capacity.
