The Calgary Wranglers have officially announced their 2026-27 season schedule, marking a significant moment for Flames fans as it highlights the developmental opportunities available for Flames prospects.
The Wranglers will engage in a total of 72 games, with 36 held at the Scotiabank Saddledome and 36 on the road. They will maintain a divisional-heavy schedule, facing off against familiar opponents including 12 games against the Abbotsford Canucks, and 8 games each against teams like the Bakersfield Condors and Coachella Valley Firebirds.
The season kicks off on October 2nd when the Wranglers host Abbotsford, and features notable matchups including their annual winter theme game, Winter Wranglerfest, scheduled for December 20th. This season is particularly critical for the Wranglers as they seek to bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, which saw them miss the playoffs for the first time since relocating to Calgary.
The roster is expected to see new faces, including a new captain following Clark Bishops' departure in free agency. The focus on player development is underscored by the anticipation surrounding several Flames prospects who are likely to make an impact both in the AHL and at the junior level, including Theo Stockselius potentially representing Team Sweden at the 2027 World Juniors and multiple prospects participating in a highly anticipated college hockey game between North Dakota and Michigan State.
