Another Calgary Flames prospect development camp has wrapped up at WinSport, showcasing promising talent for the future. General Manager Craig Conroy addressed the media over three consecutive days, while fans enjoyed a thrilling display that culminated in the Snowy Cup, with Team McDonald winning a 10-8 shootout.
Six standout prospects from the camp emerged, starting with Carson Carels, the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, who demonstrated impressive two-way skills and composure on the ice. At just 18 years old, Carels is expected to transition smoothly to the NHL after a season at North Dakota.
Maceo Phillips, another notable performer, showcased his offensive potential and mobility, drawing comparisons to Nikita Zadorov. He will be playing for the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers this season before heading to the University of Minnesota.
Goaltender Tobias Trejbal, selected at No. 42 in the draft, exhibited excellent technical skills and reflexes and is set to start his collegiate career at UMass, aiming to follow in the footsteps of Michael Hrabal.
Cole Reschny, standing at 5'11, displayed slick offensive skills and great composure, making him a likely candidate for a top-six NHL center role in the future. Simon Katolicky, overcoming a challenging year marred by injuries, showed remarkable skill and strength during the camp, and will be joining the OHL's Sarnia Sting to regain his form.
Finally, Joe Iginla, the son of Flames legend Jarome Iginla, caught fans' attention with his determination and potential, preparing for another WHL season before possibly moving to an NCAA program. The Flames’ prospect development camp has not only highlighted individual talents but will also play a crucial role in shaping the roster decisions for the upcoming season.
