The Winnipeg Jets are currently facing challenges as rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq is set to miss time during training camp due to a setback related to his previous hernia surgery, according to head coach Aaron Glenn.
While the team is hopeful that Sadiq will be ready by Week 1, his absence during crucial training camp practices could hinder his development, as he is still mastering the playbook and needs to build chemistry with quarterback Geno Smith (Gang Green Nation).
In roster news, the Jets have signed tight end Connor Hulstein and defensive lineman Patrick Jenkins while waiving safety Keidron Smith and defensive lineman Eric Watts (Pro Football Talk). Additionally, former Jets stars Patrik Laine and Evander Kane remain unsigned in the free agency market, with Laine's potential availability for a one-year contract due to injury provisions raising interest from teams (Yahoo Sports NHL).
On the prospect side, top Jets prospect Viggo Bjorck is training in Sweden with Djurgarden and aims to secure a spot in the NHL after signing his entry-level contract (Illegal Curve). In other updates, the Jets have only one remaining restricted free agent, defenceman Tyrel Bauer, who has yet to sign, and prospect Zach Nehring is focusing on strength training ahead of his junior season (Illegal Curve).
