The Winnipeg Jets have signed center Cole Perfetti to a five-year, $30 million contract, as reported by ESPN. This deal comes after Perfetti, who is 24 years old and was drafted 10th overall in 2020, was set to enter salary arbitration.
Perfetti's new contract carries a $6 million salary cap hit and will keep him with the Jets until he is eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2031. Last season, he recorded 12 goals and 20 assists in 68 games, bringing his career totals to 59 goals and 98 assists over 290 games.
The Jets, who missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 2022, are also preparing for an expanded 84-game schedule in the 2026-27 season, which will feature notable matches, including an outdoor game against the Montreal Canadiens.
This historic season opener will take place on October 2, 2026, at Canada Life Centre against the Boston Bruins, as the team looks to make a significant impact in their 16th season. The Jets are actively making roster moves and updates, which include the strategic investment in younger players like Perfetti, reflecting their commitment to building a competitive future.
As they navigate the offseason, the focus will be on solidifying their roster and improving performance following last year's disappointing results.
