The Winnipeg Jets concluded their season with a disappointing 6-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks at Canada Life Centre, marking the end of their playoff aspirations. According to Deadspin, this defeat underscored the team's struggles, leaving them with a record of 35 wins, 35 losses, and 12 overtime losses, totaling 82 points, the second fewest in franchise history since the 2015-16 season.
Jets coach Scott Arniel expressed frustration, noting that the team let down their fans and failed to maintain their competitive edge after taking an early lead when Cole Koepke scored. The Sharks' Macklin Celebrini notched a goal and two assists, setting a franchise record for points in a single season.
Winnipeg's management also voiced disappointment over the missed playoffs, with Arniel stating that the team had believed they were close to qualifying. Off the ice, the Jets signed defenseman Garrett Brown to a two-year entry-level contract following his NCAA championship win with the Denver Pioneers.
Meanwhile, prospect Elias Salomonsson remains in concussion protocol, and first-round draft pick Sascha Boumedienne has entered the NCAA transfer portal, indicating ongoing changes within the organization as they look toward the future.
