Golden Knights owner Bill Foley has officially launched a bid for an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas, marking a significant ambition to further expand his sports portfolio. Foley has enlisted Morgan Stanley & Co. as his exclusive financial adviser to help build an ownership group around his existing Southern Nevada sports holdings.

He stated that Las Vegas has earned its place among the great sports cities in America, and an NBA team belongs there, highlighting the Golden Knights' success and the city's growing reputation in the sports world.

In addition to this expansion bid, the Golden Knights are preparing for their 2026-27 preseason, with their first game set for September 19 against the Los Angeles Kings. This preseason will see the team participating in four games, a reduction from the previous seven, as part of the NHL's new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Knights will play two games in California before returning home to face the Utah Mammoth and the San Jose Sharks. Furthermore, the team is facing tough choices regarding its goaltending options, particularly concerning Stanley Cup-winning goalie Adin Hill and the potential for Carter Hart to step into the No. 1 role next season.

Kelly McCrimmon noted that while they like their goaltenders, they need to resolve their situation in the crowded goalie room, as a three-goalie tandem is no longer viable. The Golden Knights continue to thrive, having established a strong record since their inception, and they face competitive challenges from Pacific Division rivals as they aim to maintain their status in the league.

Their success has made them a model franchise, achieving significant milestones, including multiple playoff appearances and a Stanley Cup victory in 2023. As they celebrate ten years since their NHL expansion announcement, the Golden Knights reflect on their remarkable journey and impact on the Las Vegas sports community.
