The Vegas Golden Knights secured a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, thanks to a last-minute goal from Tomas Hertl. After falling behind 2-0 early, the Golden Knights rallied, with Hertl's game-winner coming off a give-and-go with Colton Sissons with just 3:24 left in the game.
Coach John Tortorella acknowledged the team's need for improvement despite the win, stating, "We're up 1-0... but we have to be ready and sometimes play smarter," as they prepare for Game 2 on June 4. Goaltender Carter Hart faced heckling from Hurricanes fans due to his past involvement in the 2018 Hockey Canada scandal, which added to the pressure during the game.
The Golden Knights aim to enhance their performance in Game 2, with experts predicting a need for improved play from both goaltenders, Hart and Carolina's Frederik Andersen, following their struggles in the opener.
