The Vegas Golden Knights rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, moving them within one win of the Stanley Cup Final. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Golden Knights were down 3-0 after the first period but turned the tide with a goal from captain Mark Stone just 19 seconds into the second period.
Stone, who returned from a lower-body injury, contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, helping lead his team to this historic comeback. The Golden Knights' depth was also on display, with contributions from players like William Karlsson and Keegan Kolesar, who helped tie the game and secure the win.
The Avalanche, despite having star defenseman Cale Makar back, struggled to maintain their lead, raising concerns about their ability to bounce back in the series. This loss marks a critical point for Colorado, as they now face elimination in Game 4.
The Golden Knights have the chance to sweep the series and reach their third Stanley Cup Final in nine seasons, a feat last accomplished by a Presidents Trophy winner in 2013. Tomas Hertl scored the late winner for Vegas, capping off the impressive comeback and solidifying their commanding series lead.
Game 4 is set for next Tuesday, with the Golden Knights aiming to finish the series strong.
