In Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, the Vegas Golden Knights rallied to defeat the Colorado Avalanche 3-1, taking a commanding 2-0 series lead. Jack Eichel and Ivan Barbashev were pivotal, scoring in a quick succession in the third period, with Eichel tying the game and assisting Barbashev's go-ahead goal.
Barbashev later secured the win with an empty-net goal. The victory came despite the Golden Knights' struggles on the power play, going 0 for 4. Carter Hart had a standout performance in goal, stopping 29 shots.
The Avalanche had taken an early lead with a goal from Ross Colton, but the Knights' comeback stunned the home crowd at Ball Arena, where teams that start 2-0 in the conference finals have a strong historical record.
Both teams were missing key players; Golden Knights' captain Mark Stone missed his fifth straight game, while Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar sat out due to injury. The Golden Knights will face the Avalanche again in Las Vegas for Game 3, with hopes of maintaining their momentum and addressing ongoing injury concerns.
