In their latest outing, the Vancouver Canucks faced off against the Ottawa Senators and were shut out 2-0. James Reimer recorded his 32nd career shutout, stopping all 16 shots he faced. Ridly Greig scored the decisive goal midway through the second period, solidifying the Senators' recent strong performance.
Despite the loss, there are signs of improvement in the Canucks' intensity and competitiveness, with the team showing a greater effort in recent games. Newly acquired forward Curtis Douglas is bringing a much-needed physical presence to the lineup.
However, the team remains in a challenging position, continuing to hold onto the last place in the league following this defeat. The Canucks' trade deadline activities were described as underwhelming, but they did make some strategic moves aimed at rebuilding, including the decision to trade David Kampf to the Washington Capitals.
Looking ahead, players are now being considered for increased roles as the team navigates the final stretch of the season.
