Yaroslav Bryzgalov Ranked #14 in Canucks Prospects

CanucksArmy has ranked Yaroslav Bryzgalov as the fourteenth prospect in their summer rankings for the Vancouver Canucks. Bryzgalov, a 19-year-old forward standing 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, was drafted in the fourth round, 97th overall, during the 2026 NHL Draft.

The Canucks aimed to enhance their offense during the draft, selecting Bryzgalov as a playmaker rather than a finisher. Originally from Belarus, he developed through Dynamo Minsk, where he had a breakout season in 2023-24, finishing second in league scoring with 69 points in 55 games and leading with 48 assists.

His successful 2024-25 season in North America saw him join the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers, where he faced challenges, finishing with 17 points in 51 games. However, he rebounded in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers, scoring 55 points, including 13 goals and 42 assists, while playing a secondary role.

Despite his impressive vision and playmaking ability, Bryzgalov's skating remains a concern, as he is not a dynamic skater, struggling with top speed and stride. Nonetheless, his ability to slow the game down, find passing lanes, and use his size defensively makes him an intriguing prospect.

He has shown solid defensive abilities, finishing second on the Tigers in hits and embracing physical play. Bryzgalov is set to attend Merrimack College for the 2026-27 season, where he will continue to develop his game.

His potential ceiling indicates he could become a middle-six NHL player if he improves his skating, while his floor suggests he may struggle to take the next step and could end up back in Europe.
