The Vancouver Canucks Development Camp has provided a platform to showcase the growth of several prospects, with Braeden Cootes emerging as a standout. According to Canucks Army, Cootes, a 19-year-old center drafted 15th overall in 2025, displayed notable maturity during the camp.
He described the experience as significantly easier compared to his initial draft year, attributing his comfort to a year of growth and valuable NHL experience. Cootes noted improvements in his game, stating, 'I think just in all areas, just more mature in my game, a little faster, a little stronger.' His consistency during the previous season was evident, as he matched his scoring from the previous year despite fewer games played, and he thrived in high-pressure postseason scenarios with the Prince Albert Raiders.
Cootes has been recognized on The Athletic's top 100 NHL prospects list, ranked at 95, indicative of his well-rounded skill set and potential to contribute at the NHL level. His ability to play in all situations, demonstrated work ethic, and competitive nature are solidifying his reputation as a valuable asset for the Canucks' future roster.
