According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Vancouver Canucks are not planning to make a change at the general manager position, with Patrik Allvin remaining well regarded despite the team's struggles during the 2025-26 season.

The Canucks are on pace to finish with the fewest wins in a normal 82-game season since 1998-99, currently sitting last in the 13-team Western Conference with just 23 wins. As part of a roster teardown, Allvin made the significant decision to trade team captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild, aiming to guide the organization through a rebuild alongside president of hockey operations, Jim Rutherford.

Allvin's focus for the remainder of the season is on what could be a pivotal draft, as the team holds ten draft picks and has a strong chance of securing the top overall pick, potentially allowing them to select consensus top prospect Gavin McKenna from Penn State, a player who could significantly impact the franchise's future.
