The Utah Mammoth have made significant roster moves in their rebuilding phase, highlighted by the signing of veteran winger Anders Lee to a three-year, $16.2 million contract, providing leadership and experience to the team.
Lee, who previously served as the captain of the New York Islanders, ranks in the top five for games played and goals in franchise history. Additionally, the Mammoth acquired center Vincent Trocheck from the New York Rangers, trading defenseman Sean Durzi, forward prospect Cole Beaudoin, and a 2027 third-round pick in exchange.
Trocheck is expected to bolster Utah's offensive depth, having scored 16 goals and 53 points in 67 games last season. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Devils tendered an offer sheet to Mammoth restricted free agent Barrett Hayton for one year at $4.775 million, prompting Utah to decide whether to match the offer or accept compensation.
With the signings of Lee and Trocheck, the Mammoth aim to enhance their competitive edge while integrating young talent into their lineup, as noted by GM Bill Armstrong, who emphasized a combination of youth and veteran experience in their strategy moving forward.
