The Utah Mammoth are set to face the Vegas Golden Knights in their first-ever playoff series after a strong finish to the regular season. The Mammoth clinched the top wild-card spot in the Western Conference, concluding their season with a 5-3 victory against the Winnipeg Jets, marking their sixth win in the last eight games.
According to Deadspin, Nick Schmaltz was instrumental in this victory, scoring two power-play goals. Team captain Clayton Keller enters the playoffs leading the Mammoth with 86 points, including a franchise-record nine-game point streak.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights clinched the Pacific Division title by defeating the Seattle Kraken 4-1, finishing the season with a 10-game point streak that includes seven wins. As the Mammoth gear up for this historic matchup, both teams are looking to establish their presence in the postseason, with Utah aiming to capitalize on their momentum and Vegas seeking to leverage their playoff experience.
The series represents a significant milestone for the Mammoth, who were rebranded from the Utah Hockey Club in May 2025, and now look to make their mark against a seasoned opponent.
