Dennis Hull, the former NHL forward and brother of Hall of Famer Bobby Hull, has passed away at the age of 81. His death was confirmed by his brother Garry and later shared by his nephew Bart Hull on social media.
Dennis Hull played the majority of his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he recorded 298 goals and 342 assists over 904 games from 1964 to 1977. He was a five-time All-Star and had a standout season in 1972-73, where he achieved 90 points, tying for the team lead.
Hull was also a member of Team Canada during the iconic 1972 Summit Series, contributing significantly with two goals and two assists in four games while playing alongside stars like Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert.
The Chicago Blackhawks expressed their condolences through a statement from chairman Danny Wirtz, highlighting Hull's immense skill, toughness, and intelligence on the ice, as well as his warmth and humor off it.
Dennis Hull's legacy is marked not only by his individual accomplishments but also by his contributions to the Blackhawks franchise, which made the playoffs in all but one of his seasons. He concluded his NHL career with a final year at the Detroit Red Wings.
His brother Bobby, known as the 'Golden Jet,' had died earlier in January 2023 at the age of 84.
