Pittsburgh Penguins president Kyle Dubas discussed the future of the team's roster during a recent press conference. He emphasized the organization's desire to retain key players, specifically mentioning that the Penguins 'would love' to have Evgeni Malkin back next season as he approaches unrestricted free agency.
Dubas acknowledged the progress made this season but noted that the team is not yet at the level of Stanley Cup contenders, stating, 'We are still well short of where we aspire to be.' Meanwhile, the Penguins' minor league team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, celebrated a successful debut win, shutting out the Springfield Thunderbirds, with forward Bill Zonnon scoring the winning goal.
In addition, Sidney Crosby is set to represent Canada at the upcoming men's world hockey championship, marking his fourth appearance in the tournament, showcasing his ongoing leadership despite the Penguins' early playoff exit this year.
Crosby, who led the Penguins with 74 points this past season, continues to be a vital figure in both the NHL and on the international stage.
