The Philadelphia Flyers have secured a significant extension for forward Trevor Zegras, signing him to a four-year contract worth $36.5 million. This move makes Zegras the highest-paid player on the roster, with a cap hit of $9.125 million per season.
Acquired from the Anaheim Ducks last summer, Zegras had a breakout season, scoring a career-high 26 goals and contributing 67 points in 81 games, playing a pivotal role in the Flyers' playoff push. In addition, the Flyers will open the 2026-27 NHL season against their rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, reigniting this storied rivalry.
Furthermore, the Flyers had aimed to bolster their roster by extending an offer sheet to young star Leo Carlsson, but the Ducks matched the $90 million offer, keeping him in Anaheim. Lastly, promising goaltender prospect Yegor Zavragin has been ranked among the NHL's best, showcasing the Flyers' commitment to building for the future.
He joins the ranks of other developing talents like Martin Psohlavec, who is heading to the WHL for a key development year, indicating a strong focus on nurturing young prospects as the Flyers continue their rebuild.
