The Philadelphia Flyers have bolstered their roster by signing veteran center Noel Acciari to a two-year deal with a $2.8 million annual cap hit, as reported by PhillyVoice. Acciari, 34, adds grit and depth to the Flyers' bottom-six lineup, especially following the trade of Garnet Hathaway to Florida.
Last season, Acciari played 67 games, scoring 13 goals and 12 assists, while maintaining a plus-14 rating. Meanwhile, discussions surrounding a potential reunion with franchise icon Claude Giroux have sparked fan debate, with General Manager Danny Briere confirming they have engaged in talks, although no deal is imminent.
Giroux, at 38, had a solid season with Ottawa, ranking sixth in scoring for the Senators. Additionally, the Flyers are reportedly interested in acquiring defenseman Morgan Rielly from the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they seek to improve their blue line amidst ongoing offseason moves.
Meanwhile, young defenseman Jamie Drysdale is close to signing a multi-year extension with the Flyers, reflecting the team's commitment to securing promising talent. Briere also faced scrutiny over comments suggesting the team might take a step back this season, which stirred mixed reactions among the fanbase.
Despite this, he expressed excitement about the young core and the direction of the franchise, emphasizing the potential for future growth.
