The Philadelphia Flyers are actively exploring their options for goaltending as they prepare for the 2026 NHL Draft. According to Yahoo Sports, the Flyers have not drafted a goalie since 2023, and while Dan Vladar has emerged as a legitimate NHL starting goalie, the future in net remains uncertain.
The team is considering prospects like Tobias Trejbal, a 6-foot-5 goalie from the USHL, who is ranked 34th overall and compared to Vladar. Additionally, the Flyers are reportedly interested in acquiring Robert Thomas from the St.
Louis Blues, but the asking price of significant assets, including top prospects like Porter Martone and Jack Nesbitt, has made negotiations challenging. Martone, who posted impressive numbers in the NCAA, is viewed as a valuable asset that the Flyers are reluctant to part with.
On the development side, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms have signed Zayde Wisdom to a two-year extension, demonstrating the Flyers' commitment to nurturing young talent. Meanwhile, Christian Dvorak's one-year contract extension is seen as a short-term solution to bolster center depth, allowing the Flyers flexibility as they continue their rebuild.
Lastly, reports indicate that a trade for Dylan Larkin of the Detroit Red Wings is unlikely, as Larkin has specified a narrow trade list that does not include Philadelphia. This leaves the Flyers in a position to reassess their strategies as they look to improve their roster and build for the future.
