The Philadelphia Flyers are set to begin their first-round playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena, with the puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. This matchup marks the Flyers' first playoff appearance since 2020 and their first series against the Penguins since 2018.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Flyers will also play Game 2 in Pittsburgh on Monday, before the series shifts to Xfinity Mobile Arena for Game 3 and Game 4. In preparation for the playoffs, the Flyers have assigned six players to the AHL, including Jacob Gaucher and Anthony Richard, to solidify their roster.
Travis Konecny has expressed a desire for the Flyers to be embraced by Philadelphia fans in the same way as other local teams during their playoff runs. The Flyers released a hype video narrated by former goalie Brian Boucher to energize the fan base and remind players of the franchise's rich playoff history.
Furthermore, Comcast Spectacor has announced plans to construct a new arena for the Flyers and the 76ers at the site of the former Spectrum, with the goal of having it ready by 2030, as part of a larger development project that includes retail and entertainment venues.
