Flyers Consider Three PTO Candidates

As the Philadelphia Flyers approach training camp, they are evaluating potential players for professional tryouts, or PTOs, to bolster their roster depth. According to Yahoo Sports NHL, three notable candidates have emerged.

First, Kevin Hayes, a 34-year-old center and left winger, is a serviceable depth option. Hayes, who previously played for the Flyers and has a history of effective play, is now a free agent after unsuccessful stints with the St.

Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite a rocky exit from Philadelphia, if there is no lingering animosity, a return could provide the Flyers with valuable experience, especially considering his familiarity with current players.

Second, Luke Glendening, a 37-year-old center and right winger, could be a good fit as he was well-regarded during his time with the Flyers, contributing as a faceoff specialist and providing depth on the fourth line.

He scored two goals, three assists, and five points in 18 regular season games and had a solid playoff presence. Lastly, John Klingberg, a right-handed defenseman, is a potential addition as the Flyers seek to upgrade their blue line.

Klingberg, 33, had a challenging year with injuries but managed to score 10 goals and 17 assists in 56 games with the San Jose Sharks last season. His scoring ability on the power play is a point of interest, as the Flyers struggled in that area recently.

Although Klingberg may not be the definitive solution for the Flyers' defensive needs, a PTO could provide insight into whether he still has value to contribute. With injuries and competition inevitable, these evaluations are crucial for a team looking to enhance its performance after a challenging previous season.
