Nicolas Deslauriers has signed a two-year contract extension with the Carolina Hurricanes during their Stanley Cup parade. According to Daily Faceoff, the extension carries a salary cap hit of $875,000.
Deslauriers was traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Hurricanes just ahead of the March trade deadline. In his brief time with Carolina, he played seven regular-season games, registering one assist and accumulating five penalty minutes and 35 hits.
His physical presence was noted as a valuable addition to the Hurricanes, especially after previous playoff struggles, despite only participating in one playoff game. During his four seasons with the Flyers, he played 195 games, scoring nine goals and 11 assists while racking up 273 penalty minutes and 665 hits, as reported by Yahoo Sports NHL.
This extension reflects the Hurricanes' intent to maintain a competitive roster after their championship victory, while also raising questions about the Flyers' decision to trade a player who contributed significantly to their physical play.
