Nathan MacKinnon's major penalty against the Oilers was rescinded, a decision that proved beneficial for the Colorado Avalanche as they faced off against the Seattle Kraken on March 12, 2026. The Avalanche, showcasing their dominance, secured a 5-1 victory at Climate Pledge Arena.

Nathan MacKinnon shone brightly, contributing one goal and three assists, raising his league-leading goal total to 44 and his overall point total to 108, ranking second only to Connor McDavid. Colorado opened the scoring early, marking the 41st time this season they scored first in 64 games.

Martin Necas netted the first goal, followed by MacKinnon's deflected goal off Adam Larsson's skate, putting Colorado ahead 2-0. The Avalanche continued their offensive barrage with a power-play goal from Nicolas Roy.

Despite a short-handed goal from Ryker Evans in the second period, the Kraken struggled to keep pace. Colorado regained control with a goal from Nazem Kadri, aided by MacKinnon's assist. The Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood was solid in goal, making crucial saves, including a breakaway stop on Jordan Eberle.

Joel Kiviranta capped off the scoring late in the third period, making it 5-1. The loss marked Seattle's fourth consecutive defeat, jeopardizing their playoff position as they prepare to face the Canucks next.
