Several NHL teams have made significant offseason moves to strengthen their rosters for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Vancouver Canucks acquired veterans Jamie Oleksiak, Brendan Gallagher, and Luke Schenn, aiming to instill stability and a new team culture, despite expectations of a challenging season ahead.
According to The Hockey News, new GM Ryan Johnson is not done reshaping the roster as he considers trading several veterans, including Elias Pettersson and Thatcher Demko, while focusing on acquiring top draft picks and young talent.
Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals have been very active, adding players like Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch to their forward group, along with Vincent Desharnais to bolster their defense. Alex Ovechkin has confirmed his return for another season, expressing his excitement about the Capitals' potential to compete for the Stanley Cup, as reported by Stars and Sticks.
Ovechkin stated, 'on paper, you can see our team is one of the best teams,' emphasizing the need to work hard to translate that potential into playoff success. With these strategic moves, both teams aim to improve their standings in a highly competitive league.
