The Carolina Hurricanes showcased their resilience by winning Game 4 against the Vegas Golden Knights, leveling the Stanley Cup Final series at 2-2. Goalie Brandon Bussi stopped 18 shots, and captain Jordan Staal scored twice in the 5-3 victory.
According to The Hockey News, Staal's game-winning goal came off a broken play, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the series. After Bussi replaced Frederik Andersen in the previous game, coach Rod Brind'Amour opted to start him, making Andersen a healthy scratch.
The Hurricanes came out strong, taking an early lead with a goal from Logan Stankoven just a minute into the game. Carolina capitalized on a power play with Jackson Blake scoring after a feed from Taylor Hall, establishing a 2-0 lead.
Shea Theodore's tripping penalty added to the Golden Knights' woes, allowing the Hurricanes to maintain pressure throughout the first period. As the series progresses, both teams are expected to adapt, making for an exciting continuation of the Cup Final.
