The Minnesota Wild secured their first playoff series win in 11 years, defeating the Dallas Stars 5-2 in Game 6 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Quinn Hughes was a standout performer, scoring twice and adding an assist, while Matt Boldy contributed with two empty-net goals.
This victory not only marked Minnesota's first series win since 2015 but also their first-ever playoff series victory against Dallas. Jesper Wallstedt made 22 saves, and Vladimir Tarasenko scored, reaching his 50th career playoff goal.
With this win, the Wild advanced to face the Colorado Avalanche in the second round. The series will be significant as the Avalanche have home-ice advantage, and it will be the first postseason meeting between the two teams in 12 years.
The Wild are looking to build on their momentum after a strong series against the Stars, where they capitalized on special teams and showcased their depth despite the absence of defenseman Jonas Brodin, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
The matchup against the Presidents Trophy-winning Avalanche promises to be a challenging yet exciting next step for Minnesota.
