The Toronto Maple Leafs faced a significant setback when goaltender Anthony Stolarz was injured during warmups, taking a puck to the throat, which caused him to miss his expected start in Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

According to ESPN, Stolarz was taken to the hospital for precautionary imaging and was replaced by Joseph Woll, who struggled in net, allowing five goals in a 5-2 loss to the Senators. Coach Craig Berube noted that Woll had played the night before, facing 36 shots in a loss to Carolina, and acknowledged that the injury to Stolarz impacted the team's performance.

After the game, Berube expressed frustration about the team's inability to respond after conceding the first goal, suggesting that they did not follow up well enough in the second period. He stated, 'We had plenty of opportunities to skate it and make a play.

We didn’t execute, and they kept it in.' He also commented on Stolarz's status, indicating that he would meet the team on the plane back to Toronto and seemed optimistic about his condition. This injury and subsequent loss have raised concerns regarding the Maple Leafs' playoff aspirations, as their record now stands at 29-29-13.
