The Toronto Maple Leafs dominated the Edmonton Oilers in a stunning 7-2 victory. Auston Matthews and Gavin McKenna led the charge against Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid. Despite the Oilers outplaying the Leafs in stretches, the final score was heavily in favor of Toronto, with the Leafs holding a 3-1 lead after two periods.
The Oilers, now 8-2-1 for the season, struggled to convert chances into goals, finishing with only 32 shots on net. The Leafs' goaltender Anthony Stolarz was instrumental in shutting down Edmonton's offense, especially during critical moments.
Leon Draisaitl scored twice for the Oilers, bringing his total to 12 goals this season, keeping him in contention for the Rocket Richard Trophy. The Oilers' power play, which had shown improvement recently, faltered against the Leafs' penalty kill, marking the end of a three-game power play scoring streak.
Edmonton will look to bounce back at home against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, October 26, at 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
