Captain Rasmus Dahlin urged the Buffalo Sabres to lock in after a three-game losing streak, which he labeled as 'unacceptable.' Following a 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on March 24, 2023, Dahlin emphasized the need for a strong response from the team in their upcoming game against the Seattle Kraken.
Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff echoed this sentiment, focusing on the importance of their performance in the first period of that game. Despite being outshot 30-20, the Sabres dominated the final 40 minutes against Detroit, but penalties proved costly, leading to two power-play goals against while Buffalo failed to convert on their own opportunities.
Dahlin, who recorded 18 points over a recent 14-game span, including a goal in the loss to the Red Wings, will need to maintain his level of play while minimizing his trips to the penalty box. The Sabres also need improved contributions from players like Tage Thompson and Josh Norris as they approach the critical final stretch of the season with nine games remaining.
According to the report from Sabre Noise, the team's situational hockey must drastically improve to secure a playoff berth.
