The Carolina Hurricanes are set to begin their Stanley Cup defense without their leading goal scorer, Seth Jarvis, who is expected to miss four to six months due to shoulder surgery. General manager Eric Tulsky announced that the 24-year-old Jarvis underwent the procedure on a previously injured shoulder.
Last season, Jarvis led the Hurricanes with 32 goals in 71 games and was second on the team in points per game average with point nine three. However, his performance dipped during the Stanley Cup run, where he recorded four goals and seven assists in 19 games, including a goal and two assists in the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Following their Cup celebrations, Jarvis had surgery. In addition to Jarvis, forward Eric Robinson will also be sidelined for up to eight weeks due to a knee procedure. Tulsky noted that these absences create an opportunity for young players, specifically mentioning top prospect Bradly Nadeau, who could step into the lineup and help until Jarvis returns.
Nadeau had three goals in twelve games with the Hurricanes last season, according to ESPN NHL.
