Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Brandon Carlo, forward Dakota Joshua, and goaltender Anthony Stolarz will miss the remainder of the season due to injuries, as confirmed by head coach Craig Berube on Saturday morning.

Carlo, Stolarz, and Joshua all sustained their injuries during Wednesday's loss to the Washington Capitals. Stolarz exited the contest early in the first period after making a pad save and was assisted off the ice by a trainer.

Fortunately, Berube clarified that none of the injuries will require surgery. Due to a multitude of injuries and the fact that the Maple Leafs have nothing to play for, defenceman William Villeneuve will make his NHL debut on Saturday.

Villeneuve has tallied three goals and 29 points with the AHL's Toronto Marlies this season and is noted for his offensive skills and ability to skate well. In reflecting on his debut, Villeneuve expressed gratitude for the opportunity, having been part of the organization since 2020.

Carlo has faced injury challenges throughout the 2025-26 campaign, including foot surgery in December that kept him out for nearly two months after an injury sustained during a game against the Los Angeles Kings.

Similarly, Joshua dealt with a lacerated kidney earlier in the season, which caused him to miss nearly two months following a December 28 game against the Detroit Red Wings. All three players are under contract for the 2026-27 season, but with the Maple Leafs considering a retool or potential rebuild this summer, there is a possibility that they could be moved in a trade.
