The Carolina Hurricanes opened their second-round series against the Philadelphia Flyers with a dominating 3-0 victory in Game 1. Logan Stankoven was a standout performer, scoring two of the three goals.
The Hurricanes took control early, with Stankoven scoring just 1:31 into the game, assisted by Mike Reilly and Jackson Blake. They doubled their lead at 7:30 with another goal from Jackson Blake, assisted by Taylor Hall and Mike Reilly.
In the second period, Stankoven netted his second goal at 16:16, assisted by Seth Jarvis and Andrei Svechnikov. Philadelphia struggled to generate offense, managing only 19 shots throughout the game, and failed to take advantage of four power play opportunities.
Their goaltender, Dan Vladar, faced multiple challenges but did manage to make several key saves after a shaky start. Carolina's Frederik Andersen recorded a shutout, marking his sixth career playoff shutout and making him the franchise leader in playoff wins with 24.
The Hurricanes' solid defensive play, especially during penalty kills, stifled the Flyers, who were unable to register a single shot on goal during their power plays. The game also saw tensions rise in the final period, resulting in several penalties as frustration mounted for the Flyers.
With this win, the Hurricanes continue their perfect playoff run, having not trailed for a single second so far this postseason. They will face the Flyers again on Monday night for Game 2.
