In a thrilling Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Vegas Golden Knights edged the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 in double overtime, showcasing incredible resilience after nearly squandering a four-goal lead.

According to ESPN, Shea Theodore scored the decisive goal at 5:38 of the second overtime when his shot was redirected by Carolina forward Jordan Martinook into the net off goaltender Brandon Bussi's skate.

This dramatic finish came on the heels of a remarkable performance by Vegas forward Mitch Marner, who recorded the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history, scoring three goals in just 6:10 of the second period.

The Golden Knights took a commanding 4-0 lead, but Carolina mounted a stunning comeback, scoring four goals in the third period, including three in a mere 39 seconds, which is a record for the fastest three goals in a Cup Final game.

The Hurricanes' attempts to pull off a historic comeback fell short as Andrei Svechnikov's late power-play goal only forced overtime. Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour praised the team's resilience but acknowledged that mistakes in the second period were costly, while Bussi, who replaced Frederik Andersen in goal, made critical saves that kept the Hurricanes in contention.

The victory gave the Golden Knights a 2-1 series lead, with both teams now looking ahead to Game 4 on Tuesday night in Las Vegas. This game marked the 10th time that the first three games of a Cup Final have been decided by a single point, emphasizing the intensity and unpredictability of this series.
