The Florida Panthers have made significant roster changes this offseason, highlighted by the acquisition of forward Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators. This move, along with the trades that brought goaltenders Jacob Markstrom from the New Jersey Devils and Akira Schmid from the Vegas Golden Knights, aims to strengthen the team's competitiveness for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
According to the Miami Herald, the Panthers also signed Radko Gudas and Alexander Petrovic while extending contracts for forwards Eetu Luostarinen and Sandis Vilmanis. However, the team saw some departures, including goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who joined the Toronto Maple Leafs, and forward A.J.
Greer, who is now with the Anaheim Ducks. Markstrom's return is particularly noteworthy as he hopes to replicate the success he experienced during his initial stint with the Panthers. He is expected to play a pivotal role in the Panthers' bid to return to Stanley Cup contention after missing the playoffs last season due to injuries.
Additionally, the Panthers lost forward Noah Gregor, who signed a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Jets, marking another notable change in their roster dynamics. The Panthers are actively navigating free agency, with multiple strategic moves aimed at enhancing both their NHL and AHL rosters, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
