The Edmonton Oilers are regrouping after suffering back-to-back losses, including a lopsided 7-2 defeat against the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to Oilers Nation, key players Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are still working through injuries, adding pressure on the team to find solutions.

Coach Mike Babcock expressed his disappointment in the performance, highlighting the need for the bottom-six players to contribute more offensively. The team has struggled to balance scoring, with significant contributions coming primarily from the top players like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who combined for 71% of the team's goals this season.

The Oilers currently sit at 8-2-1 and will face the Detroit Red Wings, who are also looking to bounce back from a recent loss. With Devon Levi and Mattias Ekholm out due to injury, Tristan Jarry is expected to step in as the starting goalie, needing to regain confidence after a poor outing against Toronto, where he allowed six goals on 31 shots.

Meanwhile, Ryan Shea has been noted for his steady performance on defense, stepping up in Ekholm's absence. The Oilers aim to leverage Detroit's struggling penalty kill, which is among the worst in the league, to regain their winning form.
