Jack Roslovic showed flashes during an inconsistent campaign for the Edmonton Oilers in the 2025-26 season. The team signed him on October 8, 2025, to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million, hoping his experience as a two-time 20-goal scorer would bolster their forward core.
After a slow start, Roslovic found his rhythm in November, scoring 9 goals and 14 points while playing alongside Leon Draisaitl and seeing time on the top power-play unit. However, his production dipped dramatically in December, where he managed only five goals and no assists over the next 20 games, leading to a demotion from the top six.
Defensively, Roslovic struggled, rated eight percent below league average and ranking in the bottom five among Oilers forwards for goals against per hour. His tendency to shy away from physical play and transition early left the team vulnerable to turnovers.
Despite spending time at center during his slump, he concluded the season primarily playing right wing on the third line. In the playoffs, Roslovic failed to register a goal and only contributed one assist in six games, raising concerns for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations.
Overall, while Roslovic provided value at $1.5 million with his pace and scoring ability, his one-dimensional play and inconsistency may deter the Oilers from offering him a significant pay raise as he seeks a new contract this summer.
Unless he agrees to another team-friendly deal, he may only serve as a one-year stopgap for Edmonton moving forward, according to Oilers Nation.
