The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for their first-round playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks, rekindling past playoff memories. According to Daily Faceoff, the Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division with 93 points, narrowly behind the Vegas Golden Knights, while the Ducks secured the third spot with 92 points.
The series opens with Game 1 on April 20, where the Oilers hope to capitalize on their strengths, particularly with six-time Art Ross Trophy winner Connor McDavid, who clinched his sixth scoring title with an impressive 138 points in the regular season finale against the Vancouver Canucks, where the Oilers won 6-1.
ESPN reports McDavid's four assists in that game allowed him to finish eight points ahead of Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov. Additionally, the Oilers have recalled goaltender Calvin Pickard from the AHL as part of their playoff preparations, reflecting their commitment to solidifying their roster depth for the postseason.
Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has also provided positive updates on Leon Draisaitl, indicating he is ready for playoff action. This combination of returning key players and McDavid's stellar performance has the Oilers optimistic as they head into the playoffs, aiming for a deep run.
